This position will report to the Supervisor of Patient Access and will be responsible for performing accurate and timely patient registrations and scheduling functions as well as teaming with additional individuals in the hospital to ensure patient throughput and quality customer service.
Register in patients in applicable areas
Maintain working knowledge of Insurances, insurance cards, and other healthcare benefit related mechanisms
Run Patient Payment Estimation software to provide to applicable patients
Solicit and collect patient payments
Schedule patients for referrals and treatments in ECW
Navigate through registration and scheduling in Meditech
Responsible for managing schedules to accurately and efficiently schedule procedures
Utilize education and expertise and knowledge of clinical aspects of the scheduling area to troubleshoot scheduling problems
Communicate with team members including physicians, nursing, navigator, pharmacy and management to ensure accurate scheduling
Organize facility calendars and act as the liaison between medical professionals and patients while adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
Relay messages between medical professionals, management and other team members
Assist in receiving and directing patients and visitors appropriately
Provide accurate procedure instructions; educate ordering physician/office of accurate protocols
Promote customer service with all customers including physicians, other staff members, patients and family members to achieve positive outcomes
Preparation of charts for medical records by printing patient report, lab results and physician notes from last office visit including final check for physician signatures
Exhibit exemplary core customer skills and values and completes other duties as assigned

High School Degree required
Associate Degree preferred
Minimum of three (3) years front-office experience in a healthcare setting required
Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Previous experience with Insurance Payer regulations preferred
Medical terminology knowledge preferred
Hospital Operations and Physician Practice Operations preferred
Patient clinical scheduling preferred
Ability to type 45 words per minute preferred
Customer service experience / call center experience preferred
Time Management skills/ability to multi-task preferred
Ability to quickly develop rapport with customer base including but not limited to physicians, coworkers and ancillary personnel
Physical Requirements: Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
