The Senior Network Engineer provides advanced technical support to clients, both internal and external. This role performs complex technical analysis of network software, hardware, routers, switches, and various transmission systems using a variety of diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations.
This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and designing, analyzing, and maintaining the highly complex network infrastructures of a large healthcare and academic campus network. Services managed by this position include the Data Center, LAN, WAN, WLAN, DHCP, Voice over IP, Video and Internet access. The Senior Network Engineer provides technical recommendations based on organizational needs and requirements and mentors other less-experienced engineers. This position participates with call rotation.
BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Business a related field, and five years IT experience required or High school or GED and seven years IT experience. Five years of healthcare IT experience preferred. Documented experience supporting and developing enterprise IT infrastructure architecture. Knowledge and technical expertise of wireless communications, network security, voice and data networking systems required. Knowledge of best practices for optimizing IT infrastructure, provide policies, standards and guidelines. Must have advanced computer skills; Knowledge of Linux, Python and scripting are preferred. Demonstrated expertise in executing strategic and tactical plans as they relate to IT Infrastructure. Ability to analyze data and provide solutions to complex problems. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning and project management. Ability to plan, organize, direct, and review the work of technical personnel. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with users, technical staff, management, vendors and others. Self-starter with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities. Good attitude; works well alone and in a team environment. Must be able to function in an inter-departmental team environment. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.
