Job Description

The system engineer II assess, plan, implement, monitor and maintain Unix-based (AIX, Solaris, and Red Hat Linux) services, security operations, and Cloud services in support of MUSCs tri-fold mission (healing, teaching, research).

Qualifications

A high school diploma and 4 years directly related IT experience; or a Bachelor's degree and two years of IT experience required. At least one year of the required IT experience must be in system development and/or implementation, or system engineering. Strong experience needed in troubleshooting, maintaining, and performance optimization of UNIX/Linux systems. Experience with Virtualization technologies VMware ESX, Power VM, and/or Oracle VM is desirable. Experience with Cloud Architecture and automation preferred. The candidate should possess strong programming/scripting skills and DevOps concepts. Excellent project, problem, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are necessary. Candidate must have strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Candidate will be required to rotate in a 24 hour on call rotation, which may include holidays.

(Infrequent) Ability to lift from 36 inches to overhead 20 lbs. (Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
