The Rehab/Ortho Technician is responsible for a variety of patient care tasks under the direction of PTs, PTAs, OTRs, COTAs, and SLPs, including, but not limited to, hands-on patient care, set-up of treatment areas, and retrieval of needed supplies. Performs and assists with orthopedic and rehabilitation duties throughout hospital. Assembles traction apparatus per physician orders and maintains appropriately. Performs casting and splinting duties of application, removal and maintenance. Documents and maintains records according to department procedure. Maintains orthopedic and department supplies per department guidelines. Applies and maintains CPMs throughout the hospital. Performs cleaning of equipment and staff areas according to department and hospital procedures. Assists other areas of Rehabilitation Services as directed. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor, manager, or director.
High school diploma or equivalent; three to six months experience in a position which requires contact with the public; CPR (AHA) required
Must be available to be on call at night, weekends, and on holidays on a rotating basis; must be able to return to the hospital to provide patient care when on call.
