Job Description

The front office specialist is responsible for ensuring that patients are greeted, scheduled, that all demographic and financial information is obtained and in general oversees day to day functions of the front office. Depending upon the size of the practice the front office specialist may also be called upon to assist in check out, answer the telephone, pull and file medical records and input charges into the practice management system.


The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

1. High School diploma or equivalent, with minimum of two years experience in similar position in a medical office setting preferred. 2. Knowledge in medical terminology and proficient use of computer preferred.
