Follow-up on all third party and patient accounts until the account is paid in full or flagged for transfer to collections. Handles mail, payer correspondence, and inbound phone calls. Manages status of accounts receivable which drive the collection group parameters and includes the following:
Actively seek payment for third party accounts with insurance companies utilizing internet and telephone calls for resolution.
Identification and escalation of errors to Management on an as needed basis.
Submission and follow up on medical records for Active AR.
Timely resolution of identified AR assigned by Leadership as deemed by Revenue Cycle Leadership team.
Meeting organizational standards for productivity and quality assurance in relation to account follow up.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Must meet one of the following:
High School Diploma with a minimum of three years healthcare patient accounting experience required OR;
Associates Degree in Business related field and a minimum of one year healthcare patient accounting experience
One (1) year previous experience in a healthcare related setting with knowledge in insurance payer regulations of primary/secondary coverage, required.
Six (6) months Hospital Medical Billing, required.
Business office experience, required.
Working knowledge of fax machine, calculator, typewriter, copier, computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office operating systems, required.
Medical terminology knowledge, preferred.
Accounting experience, preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
