Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 Years in a physician office setting preferred.
Computer knowledge required.
Phlebotomy skills and experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task required.
Light-Medium Physical Agility Testing (PAT) Rating. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by post offer Physical Agility testing with a required "Light-Medium" rating to verify ability to meet the requirement.
Responsible for working as part of the clinical team, following leadership orders for care of patients and related medical and clerical support functions. These support functions will vary but will include accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physicians authorization, performing EKGs, using CPR skills when required, drawing blood, and providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets. Other duties may include retrieval of lab and x-ray reports, calling in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtaining referrals and authorizations, completing medical forms and other duties as assigned.
Responsible for ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times, and adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
