The Pharmacy Resident will fulfill responsibilities of the Clinical Staff Pharmacist as listed below in addition to residency requirements outlined in the Residency manual. These key results will be evaluated in the Quarterly and Monthly residency evaluations.
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist is responsible for accurate order entry of medications into the pharmacy computer.
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist dispenses medicines and pharmaceutical preparations upon receiving orders from physicians and other qualified health practitioners in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital pharmacy.
He/She monitors patient medication profiles and furnishes information concerning medications to physicians, nurses and patients.
He/She should be knowledgeable in medications and exhibit the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physician, nurse, and other health care practitioners in hospital formulary issues, in-services, rounds, etc.
In addition the Clinical Staff Pharmacists works as a team member with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition to other hospital personnel.
Also, the Clinical Staff Pharmacist contributes to the development of the practice of the profession within the institution and participates in the departments clinical programs.
Full-time (80 hours biweekly); hours as scheduled.
Inpatient Pharmacy: Provides 24-hour clinical and distributive Pharmacy services for our inpatient population. Use of a decentralized pharmacy model facilitates close collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals, emphasizing the concept of pharmaceutical care.
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD required, PharmD preferred.
Previous Hospital experience preferred.
