McLeod Health

McLeod Health, a regional presence and predominant healthcare organization, is dedicated to patients and their families. Founded in 1906, McLeod is a locally owned, not-for-profit institution which features the strength of more than 650 physicians and 6,000 employees, in addition to modern facilities2; premier technology; and a dedication to improving the health of people of the community. The 15-county area McLeod Health serves has a population of more than one million.

McLeod Health offers 771 acute licensed beds and 88 licensed skilled nursing beds. In addition to McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) with 453 licensed beds and 40 additional Neonatal Intensive Care beds, these McLeod Health respected acute-care facilities2 give McLeod greater flexibility in providing care to those outside of Florence County: McLeod Darlington with 49 licensed beds, McLeod Dillon with 79 licensed beds, McLeod Loris with 105 licensed beds, and McLeod Seacoast with 50 licensed beds.

McLeod Behavioral Heath Services, located on the McLeod Darlington campus, provides 23 inpatient psychiatric beds. McLeod Hospice serves the community with inpatient hospice beds for respite and end of life care with 24 beds. Loris Extended Care Center is a skilled nursing facility in Loris that includes 88 beds.

We also have a home health agency, a full-service cancer center, two Urgent Care facilities2, and approximately 50 medical practices throughout the Northeast region of South Carolina and Southeastern region of North Carolina.

The McLeod Center for Advanced Surgery, the region's first fully integrated surgical suites providing the most advanced operating rooms of the future, was completed in January of 2007. The Center includes 30 OR suites for minimally invasive, invasive, and outpatient surgery cases.

The diverse array of services offered allows McLeod to meet the unique healthcare needs of the region. This includes a new Heart and Vascular Center, one of the nation's largest and finest hospital-based health and fitness centers, and a spacious outpatient center. All of these are added to the McLeod established Centers of Excellence in Heart, Cancer, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Emergency Services, Behavioral Health, Children's and Women's Services, Home Health and Hospice Services, which rival those found anywhere else in the nation.

Subspecialty Services include acute care for infants and children in the McLeod Pediatric and Intensive Care Units as well as McLeod's medical provision to the region as one of four designated Perinatal Centers and a Level II Trauma Center. Services rendered in Rehabilitation and within the McLeod Diabetes Center broaden the range of care offered.
